Nancy White

Went and saw/heard Nancy White speak at Adelaide TAFE yesterday. I found her to be very engaging and really enspiring for myself. For those of you who dont know her here is the profile from the Australian Fliexible Learning Framework

Recognised for her leadership and expertise in the emerging field of online group facilitation and interaction, Nancy is a skilled online interaction designer, facilitator and coach. Nancy presents internationally and was an early writer and collector of online facilitation resources; and is a keen explorer of some emerging e-learning technologies and pedagogies.

Presentations
Nancy will present on a fascinating array of topics designed to outline visions, provoke debate and provide very practical insights that VTE practitioners can use in their e-learning practice with clients.

Presentations will ask questions like:

1) With the emergence of more individually focused tools that enable connection, how do we find the balance between the individual and the community?
2) What do we mean when we talk about blogs and communities in the same breath?
3) How do we introduce social practices mediated by technology to second wave adopters?
4)What are the top eight competencies of online interaction?
5) What are the exciting organisational impacts and benefits of communities of practice (CoPs)?

After the presentation I figured I should do alittle bit more looking into Nancy's stuff. I found a really interesting link discussing moral panic and community webspaces like myspace. This is particulalrly pertinant to my area as we discuss sexual health, assault and abuse etc online. ANYWAY here is a link to a discussion re the above moral panic

Also here is a link to Nancy Whites blog

Hiya! Thanks for being there yesterday and asking your question about openness. I think it is really important to keep that question on the table and discussable!
